Remember When In India

So let’s say that you’ve decided to take a trip to India. Bravo! An excellent choice. India is a great vacation spot. But there’s more to it than that. Not all cultures and countries are exactly the same as the one that you’re used to. The corollary to that is that there are things that you do in your home country that would be spectacularly bad idea in the country you’re visiting. This is especially true in India, given the dissimilarity between it and the Western World as a whole.

For starters, it’s probably a spectacularly bad idea to drink the tap water while there. Though the tap water is perfectly safe in many parts of the world, there are some places in the world where it isn’t quite as safe to drink. There are, thankfully, viable alternatives to tap water in this world. For example, bottled water. Again, however, one has to be careful with this, since many times vendors will fill up bottled with tap water in order to turn a better profit. Therefore, purchasing the bottles from a supermarket, for example, is probably the best idea.

Another thing to keep in mind when in India is the culture. For example, in many places in India, it is considered improper to wear revealing or tight clothing. Though the dress code in many cities is considerably less strict, it is still considered somewhat bad taste to wear clothing that is overly revealing. In some places, even baring ones legs is considered improper.
